Will's friend Phil V. and his mom Sue came by today for a visit today. Will was so happy to see them (lots of big smiles). We were even able to read his lips fairly well. Took the 3 of us to figure out what he was saying but we were able to understand most it. They were with me in the waiting room later when the nurse came in to tell us to come to Will's room for a surprize.
Will talked today! First time I heard my son's voice since the accident! They put in a special valve so he could speak. They are putting the valve in for only about 10 min every day until he gets stronger but he was so happy to actually talk. First thing he said to me was "Hey Mom I am actually talking wth my own voice! Quick go get Phil!".
It was wonderful to finally hear his voice and boy was he was talking up a storm. He told us he was getting out of there and into Rehab to get his body stronger so he can go HOME already!
His fever was also finally down to normal all day long, so as of right now they are scheduling him for surgery to get the PEG tube in sometime tomorrow. If all goes well and he doesn't spike a fever over night he will get the tubes out of his nose finally. Boy was Will was thrilled to hear that! His temp was bouncing around from 101 up to 104 for the past several days and taking a toll on Will (and us). Last several days were a nightmare and we are hoping and praying that the infections are finally under control.
All in all today was a really wonderful day and we sure needed that. Keep praying for Will. He is sure making more progress than they originally told us! Miracles do happen and with all the prayers we have faith God will continue to help Will heal. Thanks so much again for all your prayers and support.
Love,
Marcia (Will's Mom)
