Mi shebeirach - A prayer for healing (Hebrew)

Mi shebeirach Avoteinu m'kor ha-bracha L'imoteinu.
May the Source of Strength Who blessed the ones before us, help us find the courage to make our lives a blessing, and let us say, Amein.

Mi shebeirach imoteinu m'kor ha-bracha l'avoteinu.
Bless those in need of healing with refuah shleimah, the renewal of body, the renewal of spirit, and let us say, Amein.

Hi All -

Sorry for the delay in blogging. I've been sick and Brian and Marcia aren't always able to get to a computer. That being said, please expect next week's blogging to be a tad bit behind since I'm going on vacation.  Enough of that, I know what you all really want to hear.

We've had our ups and downs the past few days since Will has been awake longer, and more cognisant of his condition.  He has a million things to say and ask us, but it is extremely hard to lip read. Since he has the traich, sound doesn't come out, and his lips go a mile a minute.  We try to figure out what he's saying, but he usually gets annoyed at our horrible guessing attempts. Depending on his progress in the upcoming days, doctors might be able to put a little valve to turn down the oxygen which will allow William to be trained to speak over the traich.  Today he told me to take him home and when I asked him how I'd manage to wheel him out of ICU without getting caught, we both just laughed.

It's going to be a long road, yet with his upcoming stint in rehab, family, friends, and prayers, I have been feeling optimism.  He is happy his phone is home, his Ipod in his room, and that his guitar is safe (thank you Phil).  Hopefully Will will kick this infection and get stronger and stronger so we can get the feeding tube out of his nose, and the feeding peg in.

The reassurance is always repeated to him; he will come home.

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.

  1. Thats good to hear but I have to ask does he remember what happened, and I have to ask the extent of his injuries does he have any movement or anything I feel so bad for Will he definitely did not deserve to have this happen to him .. in a funnier note when you have a minute I have a few years looming question here...ask him: Who pooped in the broken toilet that was in the driveway waiting for my uncle to bring it to the dump? he would probably know and get a good laugh out of that question.

  2. Gayle,

Are you guys always at the hospital?I would love to come and bring you something and maybe just keep you company for a bit. Let me know best options. Tell will to talk like every syllable counts it does make lip reading easier.

  3. Barb - We're at the hospital everyday. Marcia is there from early afternoon until the evening. I visit from 2:30 until 5ish. Brian comes 5ish until Will turns in for the night.

We tell him to slow down and say one word at a time, but we're really bad at it! I think Will's Uncle Seth contacted ASD to see if we could get someone to help read lips.
