Hi! I'm Will's friend Phil (yes, Phil and Will. We've known each other since the first grade, and have heard "Oh, Phil and Will?!" all these long years). The other day I was able to visit Will at Gaylord and crash for the night in his room with him. It was just like old times, except instead of sleeping on the floor in his bedroom, I slept in a reclining chair/bed, which is WAY more comfortable than my own bed.
Compared with the room in Hartford Hospital, Will's room in Gaylord is huge (Soon, he'll be moving to another part of the facility, hopefully it's just as swanky). And the facility is really quite beautiful:

Since Will arrived at Gaylord, I've been itching to get him outside and show him how freakin' nice it is there, and we sort of got the chance the other day.
Will made it into the gym yesterday for some physical therapy, and it went pretty well for the first time according to the folks who were working with him. Then, on the way back to his room we were able to take a lap around a bit of the grounds. It was super bright out (after basically two months straight indoors, not too fun, I imagine), and a landscaping crew had just put down some fresh, wonderfully aromatic mulch/fertilizer/stuff (Will felt bad for the guys having to do it), so it wasn't exactly the pleasant stroll I had planned for him, but I told him the next time would be better. There's a pretty awesome Japanese (or Chinese, I forget) garden there as well, hopefully we can get him to see it soon.
Will has had a fairly steady stream of visitors, but he would love to see more of his friends. As Gayle said in her previous post, let's make sure Will isn't on his own for extended periods of time. He will hopefully learn how to use a computer and a phone and all kinds of things with adapted technology soon enough, but that's hardly a substitute for some good company. If you plan on visiting him, let Gayle or myself know, and we'll make sure Will's days are as full as can be.
